The New Age of Internet

If you’re like me, then you probably despise paying your cable and internet bill. But really, who can live without cable and internet? Not me. Luckily, Google announced Google Fiber, a high speed internet and cable service. Not only is it one hundred times faster than average broadband speeds currently offered, but there’s a no cost option!

Google is working with 34 cities in 9 metro areas in the U.S. This is a game-changer when it comes to internet service. Not only is it faster, but it will most likely be cheaper than your current service. There are three options to choose from. Google’s highest priced plan is Gigabit + TV. This plan includes high speed internet, over 200 HD channels, 1 TB of storage, a Nexus 7 tablet, a TV box, storage box and network box for $120/month. The next plan – Gigabit Internet – includes high speed internet, 1 TB of storage and a network box for $70/month.

If you don’t want to pay for internet, you’re in luck. Google Fiber is offering today’s internet speeds at no cost. Most people are hesitant to completely drop their cable service and only rely on internet for streaming television such as Netflix and Hulu because they would lose their local TV channels. With Google Fiber, the switch has never been more tempting.

Google Fiber is currently in Austin, Texas. As you would expect, competing telecommunications companies are increasing their broadband speeds as well. Healthy market competition has been absent in most cities when it comes to cable and internet services. Google Fiber not only brings faster speeds and lower prices, but it’s also making other companies take notice.
