Frozen to Debut on Broadway

With the immense popularity of Disney’s newest animated film Frozen (which won a Golden Globe award), Disney has confirmed that Frozen will be on Broadway! Bob Iger, Disney’s CEO and Chairman, told Fortune magazine that Disney’s Theatrical Productions are in the early stages of developing a Broadway adaption to Frozen.

Iger told Fortune magazine that they’re looking to take their time in developing the Broadway adaption, stating, “We’re not demanding speed, we’re demanding excellence.” Fortune also wrote that Frozen has “franchise potential” which means that they can create brand toys, game, and theme park rides because of its popularity. Iger also said that after the end of Frozen’s credits, he declared the acclaimed film was his “proudest moment as the CEO of the Walt Disney Company.”

As for the actors and actresses who will be portraying our beloved characters, there are still no inklings or rumors who’s set to take the stage, nor a time frame for the debut. Tony Award Winner Robert Lopez and his wife Kristen Anderson-Lopez created the score for Frozen. According to Broadway.com, Lopez and his wife created our favorite Frozen songs like, “Let It Go,” “Fixer Upper,” “Love is an Open Door,” and “Do You Want to Build a Snowman?” Frozen’s soundtrack is one of four animated films ever to reach No. 1 on the Billboard 200 charts (which even beat out Queen Bey!).

We know if the Broadway show is anything like the movie, it will be great! Since the Broadway show has been confirmed, maybe Disney will decide to debut the show in the winter time? We’re so excited to see how Disney creates this animated masterpiece!
