Why Three of My Favorite Moisturizers Beat a Trip to the Spa

The benefits of moisturizing your face are endless. Whether you have dry, oily or combination skin, everyone can benefit from a good moisturizer. First of all, no one likes dry, flaky, itchy and red skin. A moisturizer can mitigate that.

Secondly, if you have to use harsh acne medications, a skin cream can help to replenish some of your skin’s lost moisture. It also helps to provide a base to keep your makeup on your skin for longer. In addition, it can give you a dewy, youthful glow that might start to wane as you hit your upper 20s and lower 30s.

Personally, I love moisturizing my face. It feels luxurious and gives me a type of spa-like feeling. That certainly helps me get ready to face my day, especially if it’s a hectic one. So, I have compiled a list of my three favorite moisturizers. You may or may have not tried any of them. I have tried them all and would happily use them for the rest of my life. Read on to learn more.

When I was younger, I had a glamorous older cousin that I looked up to for a long time. She was always fashionable, svelte, had long beautiful hair and a great personality on top of that. She also had a well-stocked makeup bag and I would watch her apply Benefit Cosmetics, which is how I first learned of the line.

To date, I have tried several items from the brand and have been quite pleased. One of my favorites is Benefit’s Total Moisture Face Cream (1.7 oz. retails for about $42). The bottle is a beautiful, clear aquamarine with a cork-like cover. When you open the container, you get a burst of freshness enticing your senses.

The cream is thick, but don’t let that scare you. A little goes a long way and it sinks right in. Immediately, you will notice your skin glowing, your cheeks a bit rosier and any dryness gone. Just check out what one Sephora reviewer wrote about the product: “I am in love with the product. I literally want to marry it and have its babies.”

I had heard of Korres; I had seen it online and in beauty stores, but I never tried it until I received it as a sample in a Beauty Bar Sample Society box (1.4 oz retails for about $35). It derives its name from the fact that it does have wild rose oil present in its list of ingredients. This is also a natural source of vitamin C. When you open the jar, you do get a rose scent, which is really uplifting.

The line also asserts that this moisturizer does not contain parabens, sulfates, synthetic dyes, GMOs or triclosan. Right after application, your skin does look brighter. I could wear this without makeup and feel like I’m glowing.

NUDE SKINCARE ProGenius™ Treatment Oil

This moisturizer is a bit pricier at $78 for 1 oz. Also, it is an oil as opposed to a cream. If you’re thinking an oil will make your skin oilier, think again. This dream product is so lightweight that your skin just drinks it in. If I sound like I work for the company (which I don’t), it’s because it is that good.

It truly nourishes your skin with omega 3, 6, 7 and 9. It also has black cumin, camellia, camelina, borage, sea buckthorn, macadamia, sweet almond, crambe abyssinica, jojoba and apricot oils. The scent smells slightly of macadamia and apricot oil. In essence, it smells good enough to eat! Wear it at night and wake up looking rested and ready for anything.

Not all creams are created equal. However, these are my ultimates and for good reason. If they help me use less makeup and look better rested, how is that not a win-win situation? I can also apply them on my own time without having to spend hundreds on spa treatments. What are some of your favorite moisturizers? Let us know in the comments section below! Thanks for reading.
