Miley Covers Lana Del Rey and It’s Glorious

When Miley wants to remind us that she can sing, not only does she get the job done, she blows us away in the process.

Miley Cyrus is no stranger to covering other artists’ songs. On her 2008 album Breakout, Miley included a cover of “Girls Just Wanna Have Fun” with an upbeat, poppy twist. Then, in 2012, came her “Backyard Sessions” where she covered a few of her favorite tunes and received millions of YouTube views. Most notably was her cover of Dolly Parton’s , which stood out above the rest and earned Cyrus over 17 MILLION VIEWS.

Fast forward to 11/12/13.

The BBC Radio 1 Live Lounge features some of today’s top artists performing their songs live in the UK studio. Often, when an artist steps foot into the Live Lounge, they’ll cover a song that isn’t their own to show a different side of them, or simply to show their appreciation for another artist’s work. Before today, artists such as and have covered Miley Cyrus, but when Miley stepped into the Lounge this week, it was her turn to cover a tune, and what happened was magical.

Under criticism as of late, Miley’s been known for a lot more than just her music. Most recently, her lighting up at the MTV European Music Awards this past weekend. But with a new album out, it’s time people revert their attention back to her true talent–her voice. Miley took on Lana Del Rey’s hit “Summertime Sadness” and did it more than justice. She even wore clothing, sat on a stool and didn’t twerk. For those of you who have forgotten that underneath all the teddy bears and twerking Miley can SING, this should more than remind you.

Take a listen and hear for yourself.
