Flavor Tripping: The Newest Party Fad?

I arrived at my parents’ house Saturday night expecting the typical PG family get-together (well, sometimes PG-13 when it comes to my family), until my brother walked in and excitedly announced we’d all be “flavor tripping” for dessert. Say what?

Let me back-track. Have you ever been asked to bring a dessert to a dinner party but struggled with ideas because you’re on a diet? Or perhaps you just don’t enjoy chocolate or other traditional desserts? Such was my brother’s dilemma this past Saturday night. The solution? Flavor tripping, brought to you by . All you need is a tray of sliced, assorted fruits, optionally arranged in a pretty presentation, and these tablets to create an unforgettable desert.

What exactly is flavor tripping and how does this totally legal, Amazon-available, little tablet work? It numbs your taste buds, transforming anything sour to sweet. And already naturally sweet foods? They become nectar of the gods. No, I am not exaggerating.

Once we finished dinner, my brother presented the tray of fruits and encouraged us all to try a slice of lemon just to remind our taste buds of how displeasing a raw lemon is. Then my entire family took half of a Miracle Fruit tablet, let the little raisin-tasting tablet dissolve on our tongues and dug in. As suggested, we all, rather incredulously, tried a lemon or lime first. Listening outside the room, you would have thought we were eating the most delectable, decadent dessert you could ever think of. Everything was delicious. The traditionally sour foods, the lemons, limes, grapefruit, and Granny Smith apples, all tasted like they had been dipped in sugar. And the strawberries, blueberries, raspberries and blackberries? Pure heaven. We even went so far as to all try a sip of apple-cider vinegar which was amazingly bearable thanks to the Miracle Fruit Tablet. In addition to the fruit, my brother prepared bitter grapefruit lime cupcakes topped with plain non-fat yogurt to see how far the powers of the Miracle Fruit Tablets extended. While not as delicious as the fruit, they were certainly tasty and a much lower calorie option than normal cupcakes with sugary frosting.

Whether you’re on a diet, trying to limit sugar intake, or just looking for something to spice up your next dinner party, these mberry Miracle Fruit Tablets are certainly a fun and different option.

So what do you think? Will you be flavor tripping any time soon? Personally, we’re all about turning our lemons sweet!
