Kendrick Lamar & The Song That Caused Twitter to Lose Control

If you paid any attention to Twitter last night, or while playing catch up this morning, you definitely noticed Kendrick Lamar trending.

Big Sean released “Control”, featuring Kendrick and Jay Electronica, in honor of his upcoming album Hall of Fame being available for preorder on iTunes. Taken from Big Sean’s twitter he explained, “This one that didn’t make the album cuz of the sample BUT IT IS NOT no radio shit.. Straight rap… I’m talking 7min shit… Grimey shit.” While Big Sean and Jay Electronica deliver solid verses, there’s no question Kendrick steals the show and is by no means apologetic. With lines like, “I’m Machiavelli’s offspring; I’m the King of New York” and “What is competition? I’m trying to raise the bar high? Who’s trying to jump and get it?” he once again proves he is a front runner in today’s rap game. And not to mention, he calls out the rest of raps’ front runners, including Drake, Mac Miller, A$AP Rocky, Eminem, and even his fellow “Control” rappers.

What do you guys think? Did Kendrick steal the limelight? Do you think this will create beef between some of the rappers he called out, or will it be taken as some friendly competition to raise the bar?
