DIY Gold + White Mugs

3

Gold and white is a classic combination, and after seeing a few of these beautiful gold and white polka dot mugs on Pinterest, I knew I had to have some of my own. They’re the perfect girly accessory to sip your coffee or latte out of, and a good excuse to toss out the ugly ones collected over the years.

At first I thought the baked Sharpie method would be perfect, but after looking into it a bit more, several people complained that it came off easily when washing — yikes.

After a bit more research I came across a more permanent method and bought the seconds later. The outliner was a little bit more difficult to use than I expected, so I ended up just sticking with dots as they were the easiest shape to form. If you do want to do different shapes, I’d try their rather than the tube.

All you need now is a few white mugs, an oven and a lazy afternoon.

What You’ll Need:

Directions:

  1. Outline or paint the designs you want on each mug and let dry for 24 hours.
  2. Bake at 300 degrees for 35 minutes and let cool in oven. Wash and use.

That’s a really nice idea. Im not a big polka dots fan, but the result is beautiful. I agree, sharpie pen method doesn’t work for me either. I also decorate mugs but instead i use pearl maker pen. They are nice and on mirrors too.
    Thanks for sharing.
