One-Ingredient Homemade Almond Butter

What’s your go to breakfast in the morning? I love spreading almond butter on a slice of toast, with either thinly sliced apples or bananas! And what’s a healthier alternative than making your own almond butter? All you need is a food processor, almonds and patience!

Homemade Almond Butter

Ingredients (makes a jar or about 1 ½ cups)

2 cups almonds

Instructions

  1. Place your almonds in a food processor.
  2. Allow the almonds to process, and every 10 minutes scrape down the sides of the processor (or as needed)
  3. Keep the process going until it becomes the smooth, creamy consistency. *Patience!
  4. Transfer your almond butter into a mason jar, and store it in the fridge.

Remember that this process takes approximately 30 minutes. You will see the almonds go from whole almonds, to a flour texture, then finally the natural oils of the almonds will be released allowing it to form that creamy, smooth consistency that we love!

I personally do not add any other ingredients to the almond butter because the almonds do have their own natural oils. But personally if you like your almond butter a little sweeter, why not drizzle some raw honey on top of it afterward? This is a healthy alternative to your store-bought butter!
