What’s your go to breakfast in the morning? I love spreading almond butter on a slice of toast, with either thinly sliced apples or bananas! And what’s a healthier alternative than making your own almond butter? All you need is a food processor, almonds and patience!
Homemade Almond Butter
Ingredients (makes a jar or about 1 ½ cups)
2 cups almonds
Instructions
- Place your almonds in a food processor.
- Allow the almonds to process, and every 10 minutes scrape down the sides of the processor (or as needed)
- Keep the process going until it becomes the smooth, creamy consistency. *Patience!
- Transfer your almond butter into a mason jar, and store it in the fridge.
Remember that this process takes approximately 30 minutes. You will see the almonds go from whole almonds, to a flour texture, then finally the natural oils of the almonds will be released allowing it to form that creamy, smooth consistency that we love!
I personally do not add any other ingredients to the almond butter because the almonds do have their own natural oils. But personally if you like your almond butter a little sweeter, why not drizzle some raw honey on top of it afterward? This is a healthy alternative to your store-bought butter!
