After the Pretty Little Liars Halloween episode, Ravenswood premiered continuing the story developed from its predecessor. There’s a reason to fear Ravenswood and it has something to do with the water.
In the Pretty Little Liars episode, Caleb and Miranda meet and find their name and face on a tombstone from over a hundred years ago. Frightened, but curious, they decide to stay in Ravenswood to discover the story behind their tombstones.
In the Ravenswood opening sequence, after years of separation, Miranda is reintroduced to her mortician uncle and he isn’t happy to see her. The coldness isn’t personal; it appears to be his way of protecting her from the curse, her parents’ death, and the ghost beginning to haunt her.
To find answers, Caleb goes to the Ravenswood Gazette and meets Remy, a native and unofficial Ravenswood historian. As he tries to search for answers, Remy’s protective father becomes suspicious upon hearing the name ‘Caleb Rivers.’ From Miranda’s uncle to Remy’s father, the adults aren’t as clueless as the teenagers. History appears to be repeating itself drawing the strangers together.
The adults aren’t willing to share their knowledge, but Remy has a few stories and suspicions of her own. She meets up with Caleb to recount the haunting story of Ravenswood. There is a reason to be scared; the town is known for death. In 1896, the reservoir burst killing a large portion of the town with bodies found in trees weeks later. Known as ‘The Great Flood’, the town rebuilt itself, but its mysteries continued.
Searching for more answers, Caleb, Miranda, and Remy look through the Ravenswood Gazette’s archives. According to the newspaper articles, after a soldier’s miraculous return, five teenagers were killed in a car accident and two of them happened to be Caleb Rivers and Miranda Collins. The other names and faces aren’t revealed as Caleb, Miranda, and Remy flee the Gazette after a slight scare.
On their way home, as it begins to rain, Caleb, Miranda, and Remy run into Olivia and Luke, a brother and sister with their own family history. Water may be the sign and the curse as the trip home turns dangerous and leaves Caleb, Miranda, Remy, Olivia, and Luke fighting for their lives at the bottom of a lake. Another car accident may have taken its first victim.
