Awards season in full swing

It’s that time of year when your Twitter feed and Facebook wall are bombarded with films, actors and fashion. Yes, it is awards season! With the Golden Globes last weekend, where both films and television share a night, the season is in full swing as we make our way toward its peak – the Academy Awards.

Just a little summary of what happened at the 2014 Golden Globes. Hosts Tina Fey and Amy Poehler honestly made the evening memorable. Their one-liners and jokes about Hollywood heartthrobs George Clooney and Leonardo DiCaprio had the audience literally laughing out loud!

Some of the winners include:

-       “12 Years a Slave” wins Best Motion Picture (Drama)

-       Cate Blanchett wins Best Actress in a Motion Picture (Drama) for “Blue Jasmine”

-       Matthew McConaughey wins Best Actor (Drama) for “Dallas Buyers Club”

-       “American Hustle” wins Best Motion Picture (Comedy or Musical)

-       Amy Adams wins Best Actress in a Motion Picture (Comedy or Musical) for “American Hustle”

-       Leonardo DiCaprio wins Best Actor in a Motion Picture (Comedy or Musical) for “The Wolf of Wall Street”

-       Jennifer Lawrence wins Best Supporting Actress in a Motion Picture for “American Hustle”

-       Jared Leto wins Best Supporting Actor in a Motion Picture for “Dallas Buyers Club”

-       Alfonso Cuaron wins Best Director for “Gravity”

-       Spike Jonze wins Best Screenplay for “Her”

-       “Breaking Bad” wins Best TV series (Drama)

Next to the award show that has everyone talking, the Oscars. If you’re like me, you are already planning an Oscar party consisting of food, a red carpet and of course your picks for the winners! Will Leonardo DiCaprio finally get an Oscar? What will win best film? How does Jared Leto get such perfect ombre hair? And better yet, what will JLaw wear?

Here is a link for the nominees for the 2014 Oscars that will be held on March 2, 2014 hosted by Ellen DeGeneres!

My picks for this years top films are: American Hustle, 12 Years a Slave, Dallas Buyers Club and the Wolf of Wall Street.

Well, I am off to the theater to watch the films I have not yet seen. What films do you think deserve to win?

Great read! Can’t wait to live tweet the heck out of the Academy Awards. The Best Actor category is crowded this year, but I think it would be great if Leo could take an award home, although It’s doubtful.
I think Lupita Nyong’o will take home Best Supporting Actress and her co-star Michael Fassbender will win Best Supporting Actor for 12 Years A Slave. Any Adams totally deserves An Oscar for her American Hustle performance.

Definitely agree Lupita Nyong’o & Amy Adams. I also hope Spike Jonze takes something home for Her!
