I have a soft spot for covers, especially when my favorite artists cover some of my favorite songs. This week it seems like rock stars are taking on some very emotional and powerful songs, and to tell you the truth… I love it!
It all starts with Kings of Leon covering Robyn’s “Dancing On My Own.” This song is THE girl song! We’ve all seen the episode of HBO’s when Lena Dunham and Allison Williams are dancing to this song. We’ve all done it, but it looks like Kings of Leon has changed the tempo. And personally, I think it is better than the original. I like the fact that the band didn’t change the words to the song, however they changed it to become more of a ballad. What do you guys think? Hit or miss?
Another popular song is Rihanna’s “Stay.” Possibly one of my favorite songs on her album, but now I find myself unsure with which version I like better. Thirty Seconds to Mars covers it, and besides Jared Leto’s hair being beautiful. His voice is outstanding. The emotion in his voice, and the fact that it is a live cover just adds to the rock star quality.
