Picture this: a multi-tier driving range with a full-service bar. Oh, and for those of you who [like me] are vampire-level pale, awnings are included.
Welcome to Top Golf - part bar, part driving range, part game of darts, part bowling alley… ALL FUN.
Back up. Let’s start at the beginning.
So you arrive at Top Golf, purchase your membership ($5 for a basic lifetime membership) and your time (done per 5-player bay, ranges from $20 per hour to $40 per hour), grab some clubs, and walk up to your bay. I, for one, knew I’d need a drink to get me through the next few hours, so I flagged down the first waitress that came my way and ordered myself a Texas Mule… and a bucket of beer for the boys. There is also a full menu with everything from chips and queso to chicken and waffles, so don’t worry if you show up hungry.
Once you’re fueled up, begin the game. Enter in your name (just like you would at a bowling alley), push the little button so that a [microchip-ed] golf ball will appear, and swing away.
BUT WAIT NOT YET.
Now for the dartboard bit: there are pools scattered throughout the range. The closest pools to where you are standing are worth a few points, while the pools furthest from you are worth a ton of points. Each pool has a hole in the middle with a flag sticking out of it (sound like golf, anyone?). If you get into a pool, bravo… but if you get into the middle of a pool, BRAV-FREAKING-O.
Now’s probably the right time for me to alert all of you that I lost miserably. But at least I had fun doing it… right?
Top Golf has three locations in the greater Dallas area: one in Dallas (located at 8787 Park Lane), one in Allen (located at 1500 Andrews Parkway), and one in The Colony (located at 3760 Blair Oaks). There’s also locations in Austin and Houston, as well as in Arizona, Georgia, Illinois, Virginia, and the United Kingdom. Top Golf Dallas is open Monday throughThursday, 10:00AM – 11:00PM, Friday and Saturday, 9:00AM to 1:00AM, and Sunday, 9:00AM – 11:00PM.
Now go chip some golf balls!
Have you been to Top Golf yet? What’d you think?
