The Color Run

Happiness hangover is the only way to describe how I felt the day after The Color Run. I’m not an athlete by any stretch of the word but when I saw this video I knew what was going to happen next. Signing up with my two best friends in the spring, September came at a snail’s pace.
The Color Run, coined “The Happiest 5k on the Planet,” is a celebration of being happy and healthy. In the midst of their 2012 tour, The Color Run team is travelling from city to city looking for color runners. Each kilometer in the 5k is assigned a color and as you run across the kilometer marker, you are showered in a cloud of color. From yellow to blue to orange to pink, each “color zone” is accompanied with loud speakers pulsating with feel good music such as Imagine Dragons “” (the run’s unofficial theme song) and Owl City’s ““.

While my friends and I crossed the finish line with a pinch of color on our tutus and tube socks, the real party started afterward, at the Color Festival. For two hours, 3,000 color runners danced, congoed, kick lined, and sashayed our way through paint and “color tosses”. As the festivities wound down, people walked to their cars without an ounce of clean skin to be seen, laughing and stupidly grinning.
The Color Run is still rolling through the US. Check out their website to see if they’re coming to a city near you!

I am a huge fan of fun, interesting runs and this one is at the top of my list. I was unaware of the great party after the finish – I’m sold even more!
