Crazy for Candles

To be honest, I’m a pretty new initiate into the candle world. I used to think the whole idea of treasuring candles as much as lipstick was kind of silly. What’s so special about a jar of wax?

Well, I’ve since been hooked. Finding a candle you love is like finding a great perfume–you feel like you’re making a statement or helping shape your personal style. Everything looks just a little bit cooler in natural light, too–just as long as you remember to avoid a fire hazard.

If you’re a candle connoisseur or even looking to get a taste of the candle craze, here are a couple of standouts that will make your room smell especially exciting:

Magnolia & Fig SmallGraybill & Downs – Sweet Magnolia and Fig
This candle smells deliciously light and sweet, with a subtle fruitiness that isn’t overpowering. The great bonus about these Graybill & Downs candles is that they’re pretty big, so you can burn them for about 65 hours! You definitely get a bang for your…wick?

My roommates and I call this one the “freshly laundered man” candle. It smells so clean and is perfect for those who prefer a more floral smell. You can grab this one in a small tin size, in scalloped glass or in the form of a reed diffuser.

Light this candle, close your eyes and you’ll feel like you’re on a tropical island. This exotic option is a fun way to spice up a stuffy space. This Illume line also has other creative mixes such as Avocado Mint and Citron & Basil.

Whether you’re a Christmas all year ’round kind of person or just enjoy the scent of a dense forest, this Frasier Fir candle is the answer to your prayers. Though it’s a bit of an investment, the scent is fresh, invigorating and will transport you to another place entirely.
