Rollerblading: Rollerblading is a total body calorie blasting mega workout.  In an hour, you can burn 800 calories! Rollerblading is also less intense on your body than running  It also does a great job at toning your legs, and strengthening your core.  Be sure to find a place with a smooth surface and don’t forget to wear proper padding to prevent injury.

Beach volleyball: Beach volleyball is a great way to have fun and wittle your middle on the beach! Running around in the sand provides the perfect scenario to burn a ton of calories, an average of 500 an hour! Beach volleyball also tones your core and pumps up your shoulders!

Running in the sand:  If you’re a runner, take your workout to the beach! Running in the sand challenges your body to adjust and use muscles differently. Compared to running on the road, running in sand burns up to 30% more calories. To avoid injury, make sure you are running on a flat part of the beach and start towards the water. If you want to challenge yourself even more, run in soft sand and dig the front part of your foot into the sand and propel yourself forward.

Swimming: You don’t have to be Michael Phelps to reap the benefits of swimming. In one hour of leisurely swimming, you can melt away 400 calories. Grab a kick board and do some laps, or tread water in the deep end of the pool or the ocean to get started!

Kayaking: Kayaking burns an average of 340 calories an hour and is a perfect mind/body activity. To get the most of this core and upper body workout, be sure to push the paddle through the water for the maximum resistance.

Skipping the gym and mixing up your fitness routine keeps your body guessing and out of a rut.  Find something that you enjoy so it doesn’t feel like exercise! To have even more fun, grab a friend and make it a habit!
