Eat Your Way to Beautiful Skin
  • Lemons & Water - Ditch those sugary drinks and sodas, water is all you need! Our skin is an organ and without water, it will not function at its best. Water is one of the most powerful natural remedies for the body! Dry skin is usually the result of not drinking enough water. Eight glasses of water a day will help the body get rid of toxins and improve the appearance of your skin. If you can’t stand water by it’s self, squeeze in some lemons for a delicious citrus blast.  Lemons have so many hidden health benefits as well! Lemons help to detoxify the skin, giving your skin a natural glow. Applying lemon juice to the skin can help lighten dark spots. Mix lemons with honey, apply it all over you face and let it set for 10 minutes and then jump into the shower. You just gave yourself an instant facial!
  • Apples - An apple a day keeps the dermatologist away! The antioxidants found in apples help toboost collagen in the skin and keep you looking younger longer. Don’t forget to eat the apple skin too! The antioxidants found in the apple skin are known for making your skin more resistant to sun damage. Try making your own exfoliating mask by mashing apples, with honey, oatmeal and a dash of rose water.
  • Mangoes, Apricots, and Papaya – These fruits are full of pigments called carotenoid.  We have carotenoid stored in the layer of fat that’s right beneath our skin, so eating these fruits will improve your skin tone and give you that natural rosy glow! It’s almost like edible blush! If you don’t like the taste of papaya, try blending pieces of mango, apricots and papaya with a cup of coconut milk. Drink with caution because this milkshake will bring the boys to the yard!
  • Bananas - Rich in vitamin A, B, and E, bananas are known to be anit-aging fruit. Save the peels!  Banana peels can help with acne-prone skin.  Simply cut a piece of a banana peel, rub it on the affected area and after a few minutes it will completly dry.  Your skin will absorb the vitamins from the peel even after it dries, so leave it on for thirty minutes then wash it off with warm water.  This trick can even help reduce the appearance of acne scars from past breakouts!
  • Fish & Walnuts - You don’t have to try these two together, but separately, fish and walnuts have so many health and beauty benefits! Both are filled with essential fatty acids & Omega-3s that are essential to keeping your skin feeling and looking healthy. Additionally, they both help boost collagen and slow down aging.  Fish is also known to be an anti inflammatory, helping to ease down those pimples reduce breakouts.  Walnuts are known to help reduce redness, blotchiness, and acne breakouts as well.
There are so many foods out there that can help you put your best face forward! Changing your eating habits can be challenging, but the beauty benefits are worth the effort! Start incorporating natural, healthy foods into your everyday meals and watch your skin transform.  Your best accessory this spring will be your flawless glowing skin!
