February is usually the month that brings visions of candy hearts and roses to mind. As a single gal, Valentine’s Day really just means popping some champagne with my fellow single ladies, and waiting for the candy discounts to arrive on February 15th.
It can be a tough month for the unattached…until now. Toss aside the sappy cards and overpriced flowers, and show some love for Nutella! February 5th marks the 8th Annual “World Nutella Day”! Yes, you heard us right. World. Nutella. Day.
With the horrifying threat of almost being canceled in 2013, World Nutella Day is back with a bang for 2014! It should be noted that World Nutella Day is not sponsored by Ferrero, the makers of Nutella, and was created by fans across the globe to share their love for the nutty spread.
Regardless of its origin, World Nutella Day is the perfect opportunity to unite over something everyone loves! Pinterest is constantly booming with new ways to incorporate Nutella into foods, and Sweet Lemon staffers are no strangers to some stellar recipes.
I, myself, will be hosting a Nutella themed party and serving this little number: Nutella Marshmallow Bars.
Ingredients
1 Funfetti cake mix
1/3 c. butter, melted
1/3 c. milk
1 c. Nutella
1 c. Marshmallow Cream
Instructions
In a mixing bowl, combine cake mix, melted butter, and milk. The dough will be very sticky. Press half the batter in a greased 9×13 pan. Spread the Nutella on top of the dough. Very carefully spread the marshmallow fluff on top and swirl lightly.
Crumble the remaining batter on top of the fluff. Bake at 350* for 25 minutes. Do not over bake. Let cool completely before cutting into 24 squares.
So… single ladies fear not! February can still be about chocolate and love – perhaps just on a different level (in the literal sense: like this heart-shaped Nutella sandwich on the left).
