Stay Warm & Stylish This New Year’s Eve

As we bid adieu to 2013, New Year’s Eve is the culmination of one year and the start of another.  Whether you’re watching the ball drop in Times Square or are braving the elements more than you would like, one thing that you shouldn’t have to do is forfeit style for comfort.  With the help of the right winter essentials, you don’t have to dress like an eskimo!

To stay warm yet stylish, here are three looks that will keep you nice and snug while the clock ticks down to12:00.

New Years Eve: Look 1 by wilmeram

New Years Eve: Look 1 by wilmeram

Maje mini dress // Gilded-edge pearl necklace // Darling coat // Cable knit gloves // Etta satin glitter pumps

Too-chilly temperatures shouldn’t stop anyone from donning the always classic LBD.  Keep warm by opting for outerwear with personality, whether it be a wool coat embellished with jewels or trimmed in fur.  Cable knit gloves that extend up to your elbow will provide further protection against the nippy night air.

Lastly, these sparkly, citrus lime-colored Etta pumps from J.Crew can’t be beat – not only does the chunky heel bring stability (being on your toes all night takes its toll!), but the glitter makes them instantly NYE-worthy.  Finish off with swiss dot tights that lend instant charm and sophistication to your look.

Cashmere pullover // Opal Windsor necklace // Shirttail mini in sequins // Boucle coat // Matilde flat boot // Mitten flip gloves

A surefire way to stay warm: cozy up to cashmere-anything!

This striped cashmere sweater by Rebecca Taylor is the perfect complement to a sequined mini.  Add a statement necklace set with stones and jewels to transform your sweater from sitting-by-the-fire-chic to ready-to-mingle-and-party-the-night-away.

Bundle up in a playful pink overcoat that will set you apart from all the other party attendees.  As the vibe of this ensemble is understated chic, black boots will suffice (not to mention that they’ll keep you extra toasty). As an added bonus, a pair of mitten flip gloves are both stylish and practical, allowing easy accessibility for texters.  Of course, don’t forget tights!

Ponte peplum top in stripe // Coat with knitted lapel // Moto faux leather jeans // Pearl collar necklace // Abby clutch // Everly cap toe pumps // Pop Fizz Clink idiom bangle

While a fancy party dress may be the first NYE option that comes to mind, pants shouldn’t be put on the backburner just yet.  If the thought of standing outside for hours sounds unbearable, then faux leather pants are the perfect alternative to your traditional party attire.

Select a fun party top that can easily be dressed up with some sparkly jewels and baubles or opt for anything that’s satiny, sequined or lacey.  An oversized winter coat will allow for plenty of room in case you decide to throw on an additional layer (or two!).  Be it a fur vest, sequined blazer or infinity scarf, it never hurts to be prepared.  After all, you can always remove the extra layers as you see fit as the evening progresses or moves inside.

Rely on accessories to snazz up your look:  an elegant collar necklace and “pop, fizz, clink” idiom bangle from Kate Spade are the quintessential accoutrements to your New Year’s Eve ensemble.  One more thing to have on hand is a pair of extra long leather gloves with shearling lining; they’ll be a lifesaver come midnight!

Go out in style and have one last hurrah before it’s officially 2014!  Happy New Year!
