A pesky rumor has plagued the hallowed halls of our youth for as long as we can remember: teacher fashion is an oxymoron. Sweater vests, shapeless dresses, and clunky loafers are just some of the stereotypes that have clung like chalk dust throughout the years.
Educators have taken notice and are fighting the typecast that perpetrates unprofessionalism. They know that ingenuity, skillful teaching methods, subject knowledge, and management of the classroom will only take them so far. In order to be taken seriously by their students, educators must also demonstrate a level of professionalism in their attention to appearance that helps set the tone and expectations in the classroom.
