Say hello to Francis Ford Coppola’s granddaughter, Gia Coppola. Following in her grandfather’s footsteps, this Bard College graduate and fashion film director has been working on her directorial debut “Palo Alto,” based on James Franco’s collection of short stories. The novel and film explores the helplessness and exposes the teenagers that live in Palo Alto, California.
She was inspired after reading the book, as she said in an interview (Variety): “I had just finished college and the book really resonated with me. I’m grateful to James for letting me make the film. He was helpful in terms of suggestions as to what dialogue would work but he also wanted to give me the creative freedom to do this.”
If you are like me, and a huge fan of James Franco, as well as the novel then this film is definitely on your watch list! Also, he stars in the film as well!
Take a look at the trailer! I have to say, Gia Coppola defiantly makes an outstanding directorial debut with this film, and I can’t wait to see what other films see takes on.
