Navy Yard Shooting street

At roughly 8:20 am this morning, Washington, D.C. authorities reacted to a reported shooting at Building 197 at Navy Yard in the SE quadrant of the city. The command headquarters building where the shooting took place employs 3,000 people.

As we head to press, there are 13 confirmed deaths, including one suspected gunman, Aaron Alexis of Fort Worth, TX. One possible suspect could still be at large, according to Washington Metropolitan Police Chief Cathy Lanier. Not much else is known at this time.

Our hearts, thoughts, prayers, and well wishes go out to the residents of our capital city, all of its residents, and those affected by this senseless tragedy. We thank those who serve our country and bravely answer the call of duty everyday.

To all of our readers who live in D.C., we hope you stay safe and know that the Sweet Lemon team is thinking of you.

    Nicely done, Alex.

Hopefully a bit of brightness will come out of this darkness and Washington will re-open talks on gun control!
