The rivalry between a Democrat and Republican has put their state’s food on the line.
House Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi and Rep. Richard Hudson announced on Friday they have made a friendly wager over the second round playoff game between the San Francisco 49ers and the Carolina Panthers.
The stakes are simple: The winner provides the looser with food from their home state and gets bragging rights in Washington.
Democratic Leader Pelosi may have the upper edge as Vegas odds are predicting the 49ers to be the favorite. “San Francisco’s legendary chocolate and sourdough aren’t going anywhere: the 49ers are going to flatten the Panthers,” Pelosi said. “I look forward to starting next week with a hearty meal of chicken, crackers, Cheerwine, and victory.”
Rep. Hudson was not shy to voice his stance. “If Leader Pelosi is so desperate to taste some delicious southern food and Cheerwine that she would enter into a bet she is sure to lose, you have to wonder what they’re feeding those folks out on the West Coast,” Hudson said.
Game time is this Sunday at 1:05 p.m. ET at the Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte, North Carolina.
