Sweet Lemon Summer Festival Sampler

The season of music festivals is upon us. While South by Southwest kicked us off back in March, and Coachella followed shortly after in April, some of the best music festivals of the summer are still ahead.

Big name festivals like Hangout in May and Governor’s Ball and Bonnaroo in June, have quite a few overlapping artists. Though some of the artists appear at multiple festivals, it seems like each of the lineups have at least a few bands that the others may not have.

For those of you furiously prepping for a music festival you booked months ago (like me!), I have created a sampler of songs from artists who are appearing at one or more music festivals this summer to get you started.

Carried Away – Passion Pit

The newest Passion Pit album is amazing in every way. The music, the lyrics, the subjects. I love the juxtaposition of the happy music with the heavy lyrics. Passion Pit will be at both Hangout and Bonnaroo, and it would be an understatement to say I’m sad they will not make an appearance at the one festival I will be attending this summer, Governor’s Ball.

Manhattan – Kings of Leon

By far one of my favorite Kings of Leon songs. I have been waiting to see Kings of Leon for YEARS, and I am so happy they are back touring and will be headlining at Governor’s Ball this year. Listening to Manhattan while looking at Manhattan from Randall’s Island? Yes, please.

People Say – Portugal. The Man

Hands down the band I am most excited to see this year. With appearances at both Bonnaroo and Governor’s Ball, and a new album coming out in June, I think we will see great things from these guys this year. PTM beginner? Check out Censored Colors and listen to the album the whole way through. You will not regret it.

Music festivals are a time for coming together with friends, wearing awesome festival clothes you probably would never wear anywhere else, and discovering new and old music alike. Nothing brings people together quite like music, and what better way to do it than three FULL days of ear-pleasing tunes? If you haven’t picked a festival yet, but want to go to one, there is still time! Find the festival that best suits you, book your tickets, and pack your bags, but don’t forget to check out Sweet Lemon’s festival packing guide if you do!
