Ten Best Songs to Blow Dry Your Hair To

Let’s face it, ladies, it takes a lot of effort to maintain our fierceness. Personally, when it comes to hair, it takes me forever to make it look presentable. I’m an avid blow-dryer, and who wants to listen to that annoying drone for fifteen minutes? Certainly not me, so I use this time, not only to get ready to take on the day, but to shake my booty to great music. It’s actually quite a show. We’re talking dancing-all-over-the-bathroom, hair-flipping, and practicing my mad dance skills in the mirror. To get you in the proper mood to tackle your day, I’ve composed some of my favorite songs to get down to in the morning. Some are a bit older, some are recent, but all grace my iPod and are played often.

Music to blowdry your hair to
  1. Cold War Kids – “Hang Me Up To Dry” – This is a good one to start out with, just because of it’s sheer awesomeness.
  2. The Penfifteen Club – “Ms. Hilton” – Because sometimes you don’t really give a…well, ya know.
  3. Britney Spears – “Kill the Lights” – We all need a little Britney in our lives.
  4. All Get Out – “Church Doors and Skeptics” – This upbeat song gives you just the right amount of morning angst, but still keeps you moving.
  5. Bright Eyes – “Land Locked Blues” – Take a breather from all of your sexy dancing. Listen to this and ponder life and politics.
  6. Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros – “Man on Fire” – Pick it back up, again, with this folk-sounding band, who will lift anyone’s spirits.
  7. Florence & The Machine – “Heartlines” – This song gets me going, like no other. Use those intense drumbeats and amazing vocals to get inspired. You’ll be able to take on anything after this!
  8. Manchester Orchestra – “Pale Black Eye” – Not only this song, but this band in general will change your life.
  9. Marina and the Diamonds – “Primadonna” – Embrace being a little materialistic and unapologetically egotistic with this fun, funky track.
  10. TLC – “No Scrubs” – Because visiting the late 90s/early 2000s is always a good idea. No scrubs, ladies – ever.
Obviously, you’re not going to get through all of these gems in one session (or maybe you will, if you’re Rapunzel), but don’t worry; they’re also great for accompanying you to work or class. From guilty pleasures to life-changing music, this is a good starter list for just about anyone. Enjoy!
