Danika Daly is doing what most college girls are dreaming. Starting from a simple interest of writing and planning events in college, Danika launched a full blown public relations firm. We talked with her on what drives Ms. Daly daily and what’s on the horizon for her budding career.
What’s your elevator speech to describe who Danika Daly PR is?
Danika Daly PR is a full-service fashion and beauty PR firm specializing in contemporary brands. We provide an in-house experience through traditional media and digital strategy, and are event planning mavens.
What do you hope your PR work can provide people?
Through our work we’ve elevated young brands and have made them brands that people are talking about, and we hope to do this for many more brands. We also enjoy helping established brands grow to the next level with a fresh makeover and a digital revamp when necessary. I also founded a workshop series this year called Fashion PR Confidential, where we hope to teach aspiring publicists and brands that want to do their own PR the ins and outs of the industry. We’ve hosted two successful workshops in NY and LA, and have another one coming up in New York October 26-27. Thus far, we’ve had designers who have secured placements in top tier magazines and lots of college students who got internships at places like DKNY, Bollare Communications, Threadsence and more.
Why are you passionate about PR?
They say choose a job you love, and you will never have to work a day in your life, and that’s exactly what I did. I never feel like I’m working because my job is really fun and enjoyable. I love bringing attention to brands and educating people on whats new and trendy out there. I love working with people, doing events, and embracing social media. Everything I do for my job is an obsession for me.
When you’re not being a PR goddess, what are you getting yourself into?
I love going to networking events, meeting friends for dinner, going to karaoke is a guilty pleasure of mine, and I love just being at home with my dog Rajah.
How do you consume your news & media? What do you read to catch up?
I start each morning going through Twitter to catch up on the latest news or any other headlines that catch my eye. I mainly follow news outlets, editors, and magazines including NY Times, The Wall Street Journal, Elle, Nylon, Refinery 29, Daily Candy, and, of course, I can’t do without my Sweet Lemon fix!
