Sunday Brunch: The Best Part of the Weekend

Sunday brunch

What is your favorite part of the weekend? Happy hour after work on Friday? Running errands and shopping on Saturday? Day parties? How about long dinners filled with wine and delicious food, followed by a late night at the bar? Don’t get me wrong, these are all great, but my absolute favorite part of any weekend is Sunday brunch, and for good reason.

1. Tasty food.  This one is obvious (see picture above). Restaurants whip up so many creative dishes, it is usually hard to decide what to order. Tempura-fried strawberry and cream cheese stuffed french toast? Chicken and waffles? Greek omelet?

2. Drink specials. Most restaurants offer amazing drink specials to accompany their brunch menu, such as bottomless mimosas or Bloody Marys. With the whole afternoon ahead of you, it can be an opportune time to relax with a beverage and good company. (As a side note, the history of Bloody Marys is pretty interesting, so check it out.)

3. Reminisce about weekend happenings. What better chance is there to joke about all the outrageous things that happened the night before? Sunday brunch is practically made for recapping the weekend.

4. Laughter. And more laughter. I don’t think you can sit through a Sunday brunch with friends or family without having several fits of contagious laughter. It just isn’t possible.

5. Opportunity to really catch up.
Don’t get me wrong, I’m all for going out and having a good time at night. But, bars and big house parties aren’t really the greatest places to have meaningful discussions. Brunches offer a much more conducive atmosphere for engaging in intimate conversations and really catching up on people’s lives.

6. Quality bonding time.
All of the above inherently lead to this. No matter who you are with, you are sure to have a bonding experience, but, personally, my favorite brunches are girls’ brunches. There is nothing more fulfilling than bonding with your girlfriends over a hot mug of coffee and a big old plate of scrambled eggs.

Honestly, what better way is there to wrap up the weekend??
