Favorite Female Illustrators

While I do enjoy shopping and fashion as much as the next girl, I definitely have a thing for fashion sketches. I’ve been collecting links to my favorites before I could even pin them to boards on Pinterest. There are so many talented female illustrators that offer their pieces as prints and on stationery. Follow the blogs of some illustrators that I’ve grown to love. I guarantee they’ll dazzle you with serious eye candy that might inspire your own fall fashion picks.

How nerdy chic is that?! This piece was created by Sweet Lemon Magazine Issue No.6 cover girl Inslee. Her sketches of women, which are always dressed in outfits I’d like to add to my closet, are often brought to life by watercolor. Inslee actually lives very close to me in New York City!

While each of these featured illustrators has a unique style, I think Hanna Nation of Gadabout’s is most distinct. Her leggy ladies are always sketched in black but dressed in fun colors and patterns. Hanna is currently working on new products for her line of products and will be joining the design team at Southern Proper.

You may know Garance Dore from her recent partnership with Kate Spade, but I’ve been swooning over her illustrations for a year or two now. She created her blog in 2006 in an effort to get feedback on her work, which includes minimalist sketches with pops of color. She creates photo and video, too. What a talented lady.

Okay, so I couldn’t help but try a little bit of glamorous sketching myself. This image was part of a series of 10 that I created for a digital art class during my senior year of college. The series of outlined profiles over splashes of color is so fun that I may print a few of the images to frame. I may not be on the same level as these ladies, but I couldn’t help but be inspired by their creations.
