Admittedly, the last thing you’ll hear me order at a bar is whiskey. The taste of smoked barrels paired with bitter ingredients, always prevents whiskey drinks from being refreshing and enjoyable. To change my perspective on the grain alcohol, I added a different mix of accompaniments for my version. Watering down the bourbon with ice tea and adding sweet ginger simple syrup, creates a nice balanced and refreshing cocktail. Swap this in place of an Old Fashioned or Mint Julep this Spring and consider yourself a whiskey gal!
Ingredients:
2 oz. Bourbon
3 oz. Unsweetened brewed tea, cooled
1/2 oz. Ginger simple syrup
Lemon wedge
Directions:
In a cocktail shaker filled with ice, pour in bourbon, tea, simple syrup. Shake until well chilled, pour into a rocks glass with ice. Serve with a lemon wedge.
