Olivia Palermo isn’t just a style icon, she’s a certified tastemaker. Her collaboration with Westward Leaning is all that we need to confirm that she really is an “It Girl” in her own right.
If you’ve ever envied a pair of Olivia’s oh-so-retro or cat eye shades, then you’re going to be all over her latest collaboration. She’s teamed up with Westward Leaning to bring you eight different sunglass models, each as timeless and exquisite as the next. All in the classic Wayfarer shape, the sunglasses are available in “shiny pepper tortoiseshell,” sleek black and even “matte frost.” The “muted gold” reflective lenses further add panache to each already standout pair.
Staying true to Westward Leaning’s mission to “make sunglasses that celebrate human achievement by incorporating unique materials specific to that moment, place, and time,” every pair is named after some of Olivia’s favorite travel destinations (like Dumbo, Saint Germain and Palm Beach). Materials such as blackened redwood and teal sea glass were used to construct the shades which were “inspired by Olivia’s unique aesthetic perspective.”
One thing’s for sure, these sunnies are practical and will easily pay for themselves just based on the number of times that you’ll be wearing them. Olivia said of the line: “Westward Leaning sunglasses are effortlessly chic and flattering to just about any ensemble.” This basically gives you free reign to wear them everywhere — from the streets of NYC to your own backyard, rest assured that you will always look polished.
Because Olivia Palermo knows an emerging designer when she sees one, Westward Leaning has actually been on her radar for some time now (think back to the label’s launch in 2011). It seems fitting that the two were able to join forces and design a collection of shades that would appeal to all self-proclaimed fashion girls, including herself.
While $210 per pair may seem steep, it should be noted that they are of the utmost, high-quality craftsmanship (and most importantly, have OP’s seal of approval!). With $10 from each sunglass purchase going to ADCAM’s Maasai Project, this collaboration is a charitable one, too.
