Summer Smokey Eye

SweetLemonMag-SmokeyEye

As a make up artist, I have so many looks to choose from when getting ready. I always come back to this purple smoked-out eye because it is dramatic and draws so much attention to the eyes. It’s perfect because it works on just about everyone and every occasion. It can easily go from edgy to sophisticated depending on what you pair it with, making it perfect for summer. Here are a few of Sweet Lemon Mag’s favorite color palettes that you can use to create the perfect smokey eye this summer!

This palette comes with nine, perfectly pigmented eyes shadows. There are matte shadows, as well as shimmer shadows to help you go from a day smokey eye to a night time smokey eye.  This palette even includes how to lesson cards to help you with the step-by-step application.  I also recommend using the Too Faced Shadow Insurance, an Eyeshadow primer, to make sure your look lasts. With a smokey eye it’s important to use a primer to avoid creasing and melting of through out the day!

Kat Von D’s makeup line is surprising amazing.  This palette comes with eight shadows and one eyeliner pencil, AKA everything you’ll need to create a dramatic look. What I love most about this palette is that is comes with purples, grays and black, making the possibilites for a great smokey eye endless!

Every Lemon Lady needs Urban Decay’s Naked2 Palette. I use this palette on the daily and it’s the only one trusty enough for me to take on the road. Its great for creating any look, especially  a dramatic smokey eye.  It includes a dozen shadows, a double sided brush and a mirror inside the palette.

Nars is absolutely incredible when it comes to make up. This palette includes 6 shadows, one travel size shader brush, and a medium sized primer. This palette is exclusive to Sephora, it’s great for traveling and is great for a brown smokey eye look that can easily go from day to night.

Achieving a smoky eye can get messy, I always suggest doing your foundation and face make after you have finished your eyes. Don’t be afraid to experiment, do some trial runs and play around with color placement till you find the smokey eye look you like.  And remember! Pair your smokey eye with a lighter lip to make sure all the attention goes to your eyes. I always lean toward a nude, or light pink lipstick with a gloss to finish the look!
