Ombre At Home

As soon as ombre hair hit the stands in magazines of our favorite celebs, I was instantly obsessed.
But, if you have hair as long as mine, you know that color treatments at a salon can cost up to $200 or more.
So I decided to try out ombre at home. My friend Shelly let me experiment on her hair.

We headed over to Target and picked up a $12 kit from L’Oreal that was in the shade “Wild Ombre” for a ‘graduated dark-to-light’ result.

We started off by brushing through her hair and then mixing and applying the product. After letting the mixture sit in the bottom half of her hair for an hour, she rinsed it out.
The results were instantaneous and looked professional. I was shocked at how much it looked like Khloe Kardashian’s current look…exactly what she was going for.

The directions were super easy to follow and we finished the whole project in less than two hours. I would say, even if you are a newbie to at-home-dying, ombre is definitely doable!

A couple of tips if it’s your first time:

1. Make sure to wear an old shirt
2. Clip your hair into sections
3. Saturate the ends first to get lighter tips.

Oh wow, you friend is pretty brave! I think it turned out great though!
I’ve never actually colored my hair but Beyonce pretty much always has me tempted to take the plunge. It’s only a matter of time at this point!

It was a lot easier than I thought it would be! I’ve never colored my hair at home either, but I might try soon! :)

Please do this with extreme caution!!! I tried it and the bottom half of my hair turned orange!! Do not use this if you already have color in your hair! My stylist had to strip my hair of color and do some serious repair!

I don’t think she has ever colored her hair before! But the instructions also say to do a test patch (which we did!) in order to prevent problems like these! :)
