We’re Sweet On: Dr. Bronner’s Magic Castile Soap

Let’s talk soap. It’s pretty basic: we want to be squeaky clean and keep germs at bay, right? Not so simple. There are so many soaps on the market these days that have synthetic detergent blends instead of natural soap ingredients. Those products are damaging to the environment and they can also irritate our skin.

So where can we find a soap that is simple, cheap, and eco-friendly? I had been on a long search for a product like this when I luckily stumbled upon the #1-selling natural brand of soaps in North America: Dr. Bronner’s 18-in-1 Pure Castile Soap.

According to Dr. Bronner’s website, “castile” is defined as a vegetable oil-based soap (versus animal fat-based soap). The combination of organic oils, including extra virgin coconut, olive, jojoba and hemp makes these “magic” soaps effective—but not abrasive—and leaves you feeling clean and refreshed. Have a favorite scent? Dr. Bronner most likely has a soap for you. Peppermint, citrus, rose, lavender, almond are just a few in the long list of scents offered.

Here are some of our favorite recommended uses for the “magic soap” to get you started:

·       Body Wash: Add a couple of drops to a natural loofah and scrub away!
·       Tooth Paste: Dot a drop of mint castile soap on your toothbrush if you’re looking for a natural alternative.
·       Hand Soap: Pour your favorite-smelling castile soap into a soap dispenser, along with some water, to create a foaming soap.
·       Pet Shampoo: Your pet should have just as much natural TLC as you do! Add castile soap to water for a natural alternative to pet shampoo.
·       Produce Wash: Mix 3 drops with water in a spray bottle to wash your produce before eating.
