Blowouts & Bubbly

Drybar

It doesn’t take long once you meet me to realize that I am, in fact, quite girly. I have no problem admitting and embracing this quality. Growing up I was the girl who took dance, performed in plays, was a member of a competitive cheerleading team and ran “track”. I wore big monogrammed bows, ruffles and pink dresses. Really, not THAT much has changed over the years. I still adore playing dress up, weekly manicures, bubbly cocktails, lipstick and high heels.

At the top of this girly list – I love blowouts. Drybar just recently opened in DC and with one of its locations just a few blocks from my house, I am a little ecstatic to say the least. For those of you already blessed with a Drybar in your city of residence, I’ve envied you for years.

What exactly is Drybar? A friend of mine described it as a “pick-me-up” and I could not agree more.

Drybar is a blowout-only hair boutique complete with your choice of bubbly, minted waters, built-in iPhone chargers, a DJ playlist and chick-flick movies playing on flat screens (think: Something Borrowed, Bridesmaids and the like). It’s quite the experience.

In true bar fashion, they have a menu – my favorite blowout is the Southern Mai-Tai (yes, I combine two to make my own), bar tabs/memberships, its own app to book appointments and an array of other unique amenities. Its branding is impeccable (Buttercup is a yellow hairdryer also known as the salon’s mascot so to speak) and the styling staff could not be more accommodating.

Last week, I went to a pre-opening party with some of my girlfriends and I was back a few days later for my first post-opening appointment, complete with meeting , Drybar’s genius founder (who could not of been more sweet!). We all enjoyed blowouts, sweets and each other’s company and everyone walked out looking quite gorgeous if I do say so myself.

Girly and non-girly girls alike can appreciate a fabulous new do every now and then and for $40 – this comes at a great deal compared to other high-end salons.

Whether it’s for a bachelorette party (book the VIP room!), a weekly routine, a night out or just a “pick-me-up”, I highly recommend a blowout by Drybar to treat yourself every now and then.

Can’t wait for you to visit NYC! Maybe we can do something super girlie while you’re here?
