This past Thursday night, I attended an intimate dinner (hosted by Skirt PR) with Birchbox at Malmaison, one of Georgetown’s newest restaurants. The co-founder, Katia Beauchamp, and several of her employees were in town to meet with DC’s bloggers, boutique owners, & women in the know. I was really excited that they found me, through my blog annacroswell, and invited me to such an amazing evening. If you haven’t heard of Birchbox before, here’s the gist: you get a subscription and every month, you are sent a bevy of beauty products, tailored to your skin/hair type and your specific daily (beauty) routine. They recently launched Birchbox Men and have expanded internationally, so this dinner was to celebrate everything Birchbox and to meet some of the DC ladies who have been fans of the brand since the beginning.
The night began with champagne, mingling, and photoshoots (of course)…. hello, this was a blogger based dinner! Then Katia gave a toast to kick off the evening’s festivities. We then sat down for an incredible 3 course dinner that included an asparagus salad, followed by either a chicken dish or ravioli dish, and wrapping up with the most decadent chocolate/ caramel tart that I have been thinking about ever since… and I don’t even typically eat chocolate, girls, so you know this had to be good…
It was amazing to reconnect with some DC ladies that I have known for years (Sophie Pyle from Guest of a Guest and Danielle Freedman from District Weddings), but also to meet some of the DC bloggers that I have followed on a daily basis for a while now (Meg Biram, Nikki Rappaport, Ally of Chain Strap Purse and Meghan of District Sparkle). It was also so fun to meet some girls from blogs that I have such been introduced to, such as Cheralee from Miss Lyle Style. The night reminded me of what a close knit community of bloggers, writers, and boutique owners we have here in Washington DC and I felt very fortunate to have been invited to such an inspiring event.
