Summer is right around the corner. With that, comes trips to the beach and the speed race to get as tan as possible as fast as possible. However, we always have those little voices in our head telling about the dangers of sun exposure, ranging from excessive wrinkles to melanoma. So, how do we find a balance? Being a lifeguard and avid swimmer for over 5 years, I’ve tested every product under the sun (ha-ha). So, here are a few ah-mazing products that are tested and approved by yours truly:
1. Nia24 Sun Damage Repair Suncreen: Now, this product may say sunscreen, but it’s perfect to wear under any kind of makeup. It also offers the highest UVA protection possible, along with UVB protection. It also works double time in repairing any sun damage to the protective barrier of your skin with ingredients like mango butter, antioxidants, pro-niacin, and more. Très parfait!
2. Philosophy When Hope Is Not Enough Omega 3-6-9 Replenishing Oil: This product has omegas 3,6, and 9 to speed up the process of skin renewal and rejuvenation. Apply it in the evening before bed, and your skin will start recovering overnight.
3. Clinique City Block Sheer Oil-Free Daily Face Protector SPF 40: I make sure to be really careful with what sunblock I apply to my face. However, this product is weightless and full of antioxidants that promise that my skin won’t be greasy but glowing.
4. Aveeno Hydrosport Sunblock Lotion- Spray sunscreen is the best. Its simple and takes a lot less time to put on. Plus, you don’t have to feel awkward asking a friend to rub sunscreen all over your back. Spray sunscreen saves you. Also, this product can be applied on wet skin. Plus, anything Aveeno is guaranteed to be light and non-greasy. This sunblock even won “Allure’s Reader’s Choice Award Breakthrough Product” in 2012, so you know you’re in for serious protection without a serious breakout.
5. Kate Somerville Somerville 360 ° Tanning Towelletes: So, if you’re like me and will be working all week, being the ghost that sticks out in your picture of tan goddesses of friends is no bueno. So, until I have a break to hit the beach, these towelletes are a perfect and easy way to get that faux tan.
6. Vaseline Aloe Fresh Moisturizing Daily Body Gel: The most uncomfortable feeling is a bad sunburn. Plus, it’s hard to feel beautiful in a summer dress if you’re tan lines are grabbing more attention than your maxi dress. This Vaseline gel has a cooling effect that helps ease the burn. It’ll make you feel so much better, especially after you have to get a freezing cold shower to avoid that sting.
Now, if you’re someone who skimmed over this list because you don’t believe you’ll ever face serious consequences of tanning, listen to this. UV-exposure accentuates cellulite. Ick. So, cover up and protect yourself for some serious beauty and health benefits.
