Peace is the ever elusive goal. Throughout the world, people yearn for the day when war and conflict recede back into the depths of history; a distant, dark memory of ages past. The United Nations is at the helm of this goal, working tirelessly with humanitarians and international aid organizations to foster peace in a world embroiled in conflict.
Each year, on the 21st of September, the International Day of Peace is recognized by people around the world. On this day, the United Nations calls on those involved in conflicts to set aside their weapons and rhetoric for a day of peace. It invites nations to spread public awareness and education on topics related to efforts for peace around the world.
