Marissa Mayer and tech industry dominate Fortune’s 40 Under 40 List

I’m always intrigued by Fortune’s 40 Under 40 List, and this year’s ranking has been no exception.

It is fantastic to see Yahoo’s Marissa Mayer top the list, particularly as this is the first time a woman executive has been selected as #1. Mayer is transforming Yahoo into a brand that we all want to rediscover, and this has been echoed in the markets where stock has increased by 86%.

Our other beloved online brands are also well represented, with Jack Dorsey at number 2 and Facebook’s Mark Zuckerberg at number 3. New favorites and are also present, with respective founders Ben Silbermann and Kevin Systrom sharing 11th place.

With the fantastic news that Mayer has topped the list, it was also great to see other female entrepreneurs such as Birchbox founder, Katia Beauchamp, and Drybar founder, Alli Webb, also included in the list. These are two big beauty industry brands that are fast becoming a staple in our lives, using a clever concept and social media to become a leader in their field.

Similarly, it was great to see Kat Cole, President of Cinnabon featured at number 40. I recently interviewed Kat for The Huffington Post, where her story of starting at the bottom and working towards the top was inspiring to hear.

Who would you like to have seen included on the list?
