Rainy days are by far my favorite kind of days. There is nothing better than waking up to a gray sky, rain beating on the window, and the sound of car tires swishing past on the asphalt. Maybe that makes me sound like a Debbie Downer, but I love an excuse to cuddle up on the couch with a big pile of movies or books.
Granted, not every rainy day is a lazy day. The best rainy days are those days when you have nothing to do, no responsibilities and nowhere to go, but we don’t live in a perfect world. For those rainy days when you have to pull yourself out of bed, put on your cutest rain boots (my favorites are here), and suffer the storm, I have made the perfect soundtrack for you. You are welcome. Some highlights:
Have You Ever Seen The Rain? – Creedence Clearwater Revival
I love oldies. This song takes me back in time to a decade I never even lived in, but somehow feel nostalgic for. If nothing else, this one is a classic.
Make You Feel My Love – Adele
In addition to loving oldies, I also love covers. Something about covers, when you already love the original, is so fun and refreshing! With Adele’s sultry, smoky voice this is a great song for her.
Silver Lining – Rilo Kiley
Now this is a catchy song. It’s upbeat, but still has that smooth, mellow feel. Not to mention, lead singer Jenny Lewis’s voice is absolutely beautiful. This is a good one to pump up when the clouds are starting to clear.
So whether you have to trek out in the storm for work, or you get to stay nice and warm inside, this playlist should provide you with a little bit of sunshine to brighten your day. Turn the volume up, put on your slickest yellow rain jacket and wait for Seth Cohen to come knocking at your door in a Spiderman mask. That’s an O.C. reference, expect a lot of them.
