Fall has arrived, and I’m sure your “To Do” list includes all sorts of fun activities: apple picking, hayrides, pumpkin carving, etc. But as the summer heat drifts away it can be easy to fall off the fitness wagon as temperatures plummet. If you’re like me, finding an outdoor, fall fitness activity is vital to keeping healthy as we transition seasons. So, here a few steps to stay on track!
1. Choose an activity. I have fallen in love with the NHS “” program. This 9-week program is perfect for fall. Running in the heat is miserable, and good luck staying upright once the snow and ice hit; so September – November is a great time frame to begin this running regimen. This is an awesome kick-start for new runners to work towards running their first 5k.
2. Find a 5k! Now that you are out hitting the pavement, having a goal will make your workout easier and a lot more fun. RAM Racing offers “America’s Sweetest Race” the Hot Chocolate run. This race travels across the US bringing 15k and 5k runners together over their love of running and delicious chocolate fondue. (Hurry! This race fills up fast!)
3. Dress to impress. Tank tops and running shorts simply won’t cut it as autumn weather rolls in. Lucky for us, Lululemon has debuted their fabulous fall line of cranberry and gray goodness to help us stay cozy while still looking stellar during our workouts. Or if you really want jazz things up Athleta takes things a step further new patterns and prints to make you pop!
So, while indulging in Pumpkin Spice Lattes and a shopping for the perfect fall flat definitely should be on your fall “To Do” list, don’t let your fitness fall off the radar. Find an activity, make a goal and do it all while look great! Off you go!
