Hit snooze one too many times? Drink too many glasses of Pinot at your happy hour last night? No matter what the reason, we all deserve to start each day by looking and feeling our greatest, even if we have to “cheat” a little. After all, you have to look good to feel good, right?
Below are some of my favorite foolproof tips and tools for getting ready in a rush, avoiding looking like Hungover Harriett and still feeling great, whether it’s Monday morning or Sunday afternoon…
1. Wash your face. Take off last night’s make up and moisturize, moisturize, moisturize.
2. Make Up – no time for a “full face” day.. no problem! Some girls can’t leave the house without lipstick. Well, blush, mascara and gloss are my 3 essentials. Give your cheeks some color (or pinch!), liven up those tired eyes and gloss till your heart’s content. Burt’s Bees is an added bonus with its fresh peppermint smell that’s bound to wake you up just a little bit more. Spritz on your daily scent and you’re golden.
3. Hair-a-mess and no time for a blow-dry? Throw your locks into an ever-so-trendy sockbun, it’s super chic and dresses up any outfit. Whether you’re heading to the office or off to Sunday brunch, go for it. Hair too short? Try a headband or braid, a little hairspray and, if you’re really in need, dry shampoo.
4. What to wear? It’s all about comfort on days like these. Of course, keep it work-appropriate but throw on a causal dress and up the ante with a blazer, scarf and/or statement necklace. There’s no need for heels today — flats flats flats are must.
5. No time for a big breakfast. But don’t leave the house without water, a Keurig coffee cup to-go, Diet (insert soda of your choice here) on ice or all 3. Do grab a granola bar or at least a banana if you’re on your way into work. After all, breakfast is the most important meal of the day. Headed to brunch? You’ll be fine.
6. Last and most importantly, SUNNIES. The bigger, the BETTER. Adjust your bright eyes to the morning’s sun, feel like a million bucks and put a smile on your face.
Oh yes, and next time, you might just want to think twice about staying up so late to watch two whole seasons of Mad Men or having “just more one drink” before leaving that happy hour. But today? At least you can look great in a hurry and fool a few people in the process.
