Looking for a convenient and healthy breakfast for mornings on the go? Look no further than this recipe for Overnight Oats.
I first heard about overnight oats on Pinterest. Pinners claimed that you could have breakfast ready in your refrigerator overnight, with no cooking required! Admittedly I was a bit skeptical, but I am here to tell you that this is one recipe that won’t land you on the Pinterest Fail blog.
The concept is simple: by soaking old-fashioned oats in milk and yogurt overnight, and you will have a delicious and nutritious cold cereal to start your day off right. The best part is that the possibilities are endless – different flavors of yogurt, seasonings and toppings make it a versatile treat that you can customize to suit your own taste buds.
My favorite combinations are key lime yogurt + coconut and plain yogurt + cinnamon and walnuts. This website has some other great ideas for ways to spice up overnight oats.
Here’s what you’re gonna need:
- 1/3 cup oats
- 1/3 cup almond milk (I used the vanilla flavor, regular milk also works fine)
- 2 tablespoons Greek Yogurt
And here’s what you’ve gotta do:
- Pour oats into to container with a screw top lid. (I’ve found that mini mason jars work best)
- Add milk and yogurt.
- Shake well.
- Refrigerate overnight.
- Add your favorite toppings and enjoy!

I make these every morning! I just use a small tupperware and stir everything together and it works fine too. My favorite combos are peanut butter and vanilla yogurt with a banana added in the morning or vanilla yogurt, apple butter, and strawberries added later!
