Echoing the noticeably cooler temperatures and changing leaves is a fresh palette of autumn hues. Blame it on Pantone, the world authority on color, but I am constantly on the lookout for new colors to add to my wardrobe. Don’t get me wrong, I still love Tangerine Tango (it’s Pantone color of the year, after all). I just think that it’s time to invite a new hue into my repertoire…enter in honey gold, or as I like to call it, mustard yellow.
I literally want everything mustard yellow this season – here’s what I’m currently yearning for.
- Aubin & Wills Fermore Striped Cotton Sweater – Regardless of how many striped tops and sweaters you own, there’s always room for one (or two or three!) more. Perfectly preppy, sophisticated and the epitome of fall, a touch of mustard yellow makes this sweater in tune with the season’s changing foliage.
- Modcloth Roadside Poppy Dress – The moment I laid my eyes upon this golden poppy colored dress, I knew it was meant to be. Imagine how lovely it would be with equestrian boots and navy blue ribbed tights. Throw in a classic herringbone blazer a la J.Crew to seal the deal!
- Jack Wills Oultham Cardigan- With temperatures already getting downright chilly, I know I’m not the only one yearning for a new merino wool cardigan. Keep it casual with a t-shirt and jeans (dark wash denim is the perfect complement to mustard yellow) or go the classy route by layering it over a pretty silk dress.
- Kate Spade Belleville Plaid Quinn Bag- Kate Spade never fails to impress with their collection of charming and sophisticated bags. Tartan and mustard yellow are practically a match made in heaven. Complete with a bow, there’s no questioning its ultra-girly appeal.
- Metallic Taika Flats from Anthropologie- I have a major weakness for ballet flats, especially ones with a shiny cap-toe. Slip into these for a casual Friday, wear them for a walk in the park or pair them with your favorite dress.
- Delfonics for Top Hat Rollbahn Large Notebook- Always on the hunt for a new aesthetically pleasing notebook, this one by Rollbahn may give my Moleskine a run for its money! A little journaling never hurt any twenty-something girl: use it for note taking in class or jotting down your daily thoughts.
- Tory Burch Coated Poplin Cosmetic Case- Tory Burch has seriously outdone herself with this chic, polished mustard yellow cosmetic case. I simply can’t imagine tossing this makeup bag into the bottom of my handbag; it deserves front and center attention!
- American Apparel Nail Polish in Sunshine State- While mustard yellow polish may not be the first nail color of your choice, there’s no denying it’s perfect for fall. Whether you swipe this golden hue onto the entirety of your nails, paint just the tips or use it on your accent nail, the vibrancy of this color will put all eyes on you.
