Don’t store those summer faves just yet

It’s hard to believe that summer is coming to an end. Time to prepare your goodbyes to summer favorites like mangoes, sundresses, and neon nail polishes.  But fortunately, there are trends that can roll into fall, so you don’t have to give any premature au revoirs.

For instance, the summer fashion gods blessed us with pieces such as Chanel espadrilles, crochet shorts, and the ever beautiful, Balenciaga cut-out boots. Don’t be fooled by their release dates because we’re definitely supposed to wear these into fall.

Check out some of my summer favorites that you should not only buy – if you haven’t already – but designate a permanent spot in your closet for.

  1. Leather shorts. Black, navy, tan, or maroon. Honestly, just because they’re shorts doesn’t mean they’re just for summer. You can throw them on with almost anything, whether you decide to wear a pair with a cropped top for the summer, or tuck in a sheer, over-sized shirt. Try pairing them this fall with designed tights or even sheer-simple tights on a chillier night.
  2. Espadrilles may not come to mind when you think of the fall, but let’s be honest: these Chanel espadrilles are just as timeless as the brand. How can you not want to jump into a pile of crisp leaves with those puppies on? The leather ones can be paired with fall outfits such as leggings, leather baseball caps, and/or all black fall attire. The fact that they have a woven sole becomes irrelevant to any season’s usual styles.
  3. Don’t take off those cropped tops just yet. The weather may be changing, but it doesn’t mean you have to. Try gracing the fashion scene with turtleneck cropped tops or even long sleeved ones. They complement fall essentials like fur vests, high-waisted disco pants or even high-waisted wrap skirts. Basic cropped tops look awesome with a strong-shoulder blazer and even loose fitting bottoms.
  4. Don’t worry about putting away your maxi dresses either. Throw them on with combat boots, short-heeled booties, or even cutout boots. Maximize your maxis, especially if you think you didn’t wear them enough during the summer months. It’s okay to go against the grain. You can even toss on a looser top over your maxi dress and give it a laid-back fall look for when you are running errands or keeping it casual. The easiest way to have your maxi dress appear more autumn-friendly is to add more cold-weather items such as a leather jacket, over-sized sweater, or light scarf.

The best thing about fashion is that it is catered to no one but you. Be smart and trendy; get the maximum amount of style out of every cent you spend. Any inter-season looks you love to play around with? Tell us down in comments!
