A few months ago, I became involved with The Levo League and helped them bring LocalLEVO to Washington, DC.
The Levo League is an online networking site that helps Gen Y women in the workforce by providing various resources, networking opportunities and instills confidence in young women today. It was founded by and and is headquartered in NYC. LocalLEVO is a way for Gen Y women to find and connect with local women in their own city. DC’s chapter launched this past Fall with a NetWORKOUT event (spin class), workshop with one of its founders and the Jr. League of Washington, as well as a Professional Influencer Dinner. I currently serve as the DC LocalLEVO Leader and help organize events each month with the help of other enthusiastic local members.
Levo is the Latin root of the word “elevate” and that’s exactly what this ambitous group of women serve to do. In fact, Sweet Lemon Magazine’s very own Editor-in- Chief, , works for Levo and first introduced me to the group last year.
Anyone can join Levo League, by signing up on their website and creating a free profile. From there, you can connect with other women, read thought provoking articles, search for jobs and get interviewing and resume tips. You can also participate in Office Hours each week. Office Hours provide a unique environment with some of the world’s most amazing businesswomen who share advice, their personal experiences in the workforce and answer questions from Levo members across the globe.
I have been blessed to not only meet the incredible women behind Levo League but also have been connected with 100s of young women across DC that I would of never met otherwise. LocalLEVO’s monthly events from book clubs to happy hours to resume workshops (and we even went ice skating), are great ways to network and meet other Gen Y women who all want to help one another succeed.
