Stila Lip Stain review

Sometimes the best accessory can be found in the least obvious of places…your lips!

I’m the type of girl that will usually go for a bold lip color over eye makeup. Don’t get me wrong, I’m a huge believer in NAKED, and love playing around with different shadows, but for some reason it’s always the lipstick I go for when getting ready in the morning. Especially as a college student, I find it hard to justify going to class completely primped.

It’s funny, because most girls would say that lip color is the “too much” factor when it comes to makeup, but I disagree. I just think it’s so stunning, and the right color can do wonders. Plus it’s an instant pick me up! Better than coffee, I’ll tell ya.

My newest crush in the lip department is Stila’s Stay All Day Liquid Lipstick. I’m a huge Sephora fan, and during my most recent trip, the sales representative introduced me to this liquid lipstick that’s actually a lip stain! I went in looking for a dark red for the winter months, so I started off with Fiery (a deep brick red). After the tremendous amount of compliments I received on the color and longevity- I decided to go back for more. This time, I got Patina, which is more of a neutral, dusty pink color. I have olive skin, and my lips are pretty dark to begin with, so Patina is perfect for when I want more of a natural look. Both shades that I bought are matte, which may not be for everyone, but they also have some shimmer options available for all of the sparkly gals out there.

Not only do I love the pigment, but the application isn’t bad either. The only thing I will say is that it can be a bit drying, and can transfer when eating and drinking (just like regular lipstick). My solution: apply a dab of lip balm every few hours to stay moisturized, and stay away from burritos and/or other foods that require intense biting. If you decide to go that route, I can’t guarantee that it wont in fact get all over your face (yes, that happened). Another good trick I learned is to exfoliate your lips every once in a while. I’ve heard about doing this before, but I never actually tried it. I was converted into a lip scrub believer when I learned I could make it at home…for free. Yay! With a little bit of brown sugar and olive oil, you’re good to go. I was actually blown away at the difference it makes. Your lips will feel amazingly smooth and buttery after, so I highly recommend trying it!

4 Stars for Stila! (& also lip scrubs!)
