When a photo just isn’t enough…now comes snapshot video! Thanks to the growing presence of social media (hello Vine!), experiencing fashion week without actually being an attendee is becoming more of a possibility. Released just in time for Mercedes Benz Fashion Week, Vine gives you six seconds to capture the essence of life as it happens. Catwalk reels, behind-the-scenes prep, after-parties…who knew you could document so much in such a short amount of time? Good luck covering all that in Instagram!
Not sure where to start? Luckily, many fashion notables (from the design world to the blog-o-sphere) are joining in on the Vine-tastic fun. Here are 12 Vine users that encompassed the spirit of fashion week, add them to your favorites today!
- W magazine- Capturing the “who, what, where, when, and why in the world of style,” W magazine has the five w’s covered on Vine, too. Their masterfully edited videos put them on the top of the list for covering fashion week.
- CFDA- Who better to capture the best moments of New York Fashion Week than The Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA)? From backstage makeup at Alice + Olivia to the finale at Rachel Zoe, and pretty much everything in between, the CFDA doesn’t want you to miss a beat.
- Burberry- I have to admit, I’m totally biased with this one. I love Burberry’s live Beauty Booth and final preparations video for their London show space. They may not have many posts yet, but I know that they’ll be one to watch.
- Rebecca Minkoff- Enter the world of Rebecca Minkoff for full coverage of her Fall 2013 collection, pre-show preparation and, my fave, a nail how-to video. You need not worry, her latest batch of colorful bags and subtly edgy accessories have a way of dancing in, too!
- Michael Kors- Luxury designer, Michael Kors, does a fabulous job with branding. Through just a handful of videos, he is successful at communicating his creative vision.
- Fashionista_com- If you’ve ever frequentedfashionista.com, then you can probably guess what’s here. Although it’s just in the beginning stages, Fashionista’s Vine account will likely become your go-to fashion database.
- Nina Garcia- When you’re the Executive Editor at Marie Claire, not to mention a Project Runway judge too, you can imagine it’s pretty vital to stay in the fashion loop. Thanks to Nina, we get to (kind of?!) step into her shoes for a day!
- eatsleepwear- Editors, designers and major magazines aside, we surely can’t overlook the blogging community. Kimberly Pesch, of eat.sleep.wear, gives us a sneak peek of the fall shows she caught when off-duty.
- Man Repeller- See what man-repelling styles Leandra Medine has been spotting on the catwalk so far…don’t worry, witty commentary included.
- Bergdorf Goodman- There’s only one Bergdorf, and their Vine account reflects that. Expect extensive coverage of fashion week, backstage beauty prep and even a few shots of their world famous #NYFW window displays.
- Nanette Lepore- Ideal for Nanette Lepore fans, her Vine uploads are simply fun! She gets bonus points for being bold, creative and whimsical with her flipbook-like videos.
- Joe Zee- Who better to follow on Vine than the creative director at Elle Magazine? No one!
